Two people died in Dagestan after being questioned about the shooting of security forces.

After security forces interviewed witnesses in the shootout in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai, an elderly man died, and a young man who was at the scene of the shootout committed suicide. An investigation is underway.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the police officers wounded in the shootout in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai are in stable condition, the Dagestan Ministry of Health reported on its Telegram channel on the evening of March 31. According to the ministry, the wounded are recovering. The Sovietsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested a Dagestani resident suspected of attempting to kill police officers. The shootout with security forces in Nizhny Dzhengutai was sparked by a domestic dispute in which police officers intervened. However, analysts didn't rule out the possibility that the shooting could have been provoked by unprofessional actions by security forces.

The Public Monitoring Commission of Dagestan received an appeal from the relatives of two people who were questioned about the March 30 shootout in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai.

After the shooting, witnesses and relatives of one of the suspects who fired at the police officers arrived at the Buinaksk district police station. After leaving the police station, one young man—a witness to the shootout—committed suicide the following morning, April 4. The second, a grandfather born in 1947 and a relative of the "shooter," died on the morning of April 5 after a brief visit to the police station on April 3, according to Shamil Khadulaev, head of the Dagestan Public Monitoring Commission, on his Telegram channel, citing statements from the relatives of the deceased men. According to him, the Investigative Committee of Russia for Dagestan is conducting an investigation into these cases.
