Residents of Buinaksk are concerned about fuel being pumped near residential buildings.

Thousands of liters of fuel are being transferred daily from tankers at the old railway station in Buynaksk, violating all safety regulations, residents have claimed. The transfer point operates surrounded by residential areas, a market, and mosques.

According to Buynaksk residents, gas and gasoline are being transferred at the old railway station near residential buildings. Tankers from Rostov-on-Don, Astrakhan, Samara, and Surgut arrive here, transfer the fuel, and deliver it to gas stations in Dagestan.

The residents' appeal was published by the Telegram channel "People's Front Dagestan," which has over two thousand subscribers. By 6:00 PM Moscow time, the post had garnered over 7,000 views.

"If these barrels explode here, there will be no one left. There are two rows of trains here, from start to finish, and then they all get transported to gas stations in the city and region," local resident Shapi Saypulaev said in a recording.

People complained to the city and republic prosecutor's offices, but received no response. Representatives of the People's Front recorded violations on site: there is no sanitary protection zone (less than 200 meters from houses), no fire extinguishing systems, no alarms, and no drone protection.

"Residential buildings should be 300 meters away from the industrial facility. However, the central mosque, the market, private homes, as well as workshops and shops, are all located very close," local residents say.

People emphasized that there was a previous fire here in 2023. There were no casualties, but the danger remains. Furthermore, activists found another site near the hazardous facility where oil is being pumped, but without licenses or documentation. The owners could not be identified, and even the city administration has no information about this territory, activists noted.

The Buinaksk administration agreed that the industrial facility poses a direct threat to the population, as residential buildings, a mosque, and the railway station itself are located in close proximity.

"One of the options for resolving the issue is the allocation of an alternative land plot in a safe area. Due to the fact that the territory of the urban district does not have such a plot, the city leadership proposed considering the option of allocating a land plot in the Buinaksk district, near the railway line, where the necessary conditions for the shipment and loading of fuel and lubricants are available," the administration said in a statement today.

The city authorities also promised to discuss this issue at the next joint meeting with the participation of the Buinaksk district leadership.
