A member of the RDC* was sentenced to a long prison term for recruiting Georgian residents.

Aleksandr Sakaniya, a member of the Russian Volunteer Corps* who was involved in selecting candidates for recruitment from Georgia, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison in Russia.

According to security forces, Sakaniya, while in Georgia from August 2022 to December 2023, used his personal acquaintance with the leader of the Ukrainian terrorist organization Russian Volunteer Corps* to join the said armed group and began participating in its activities, conducting background checks on candidates for membership in the organization.

Aleksandr Sakaniya screened candidates, subsequently recruited them, searched for and persuaded other people to join and participate in the RVC*, and also organized meetings with representatives of the said terrorist organization in order to continue its activities, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office reported today on its Telegram channel.

He was found guilty of participating in illegal armed formation, participation in a terrorist community, participation in a terrorist organization and assistance to terrorist activity 1 and was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment, with the first 5 years to be served in prison and the remainder of the sentence in a strict regime penal colony.

"Caucasian Knot" also wrote that the court sentenced a Central Asian man to 15 years in prison who, according to investigators, attempted to recruit underage female residents of Maykop to a terrorist organization.
