School and kindergarten hours in Taganrog have been changed following the air strike.

The news of an airstrike in Taganrog has residents questioning whether to send their children to schools and kindergartens. Authorities have declared free attendance at educational institutions.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on the night of January 12, the military shot down four drones in the Rostov Region, the Ministry of Defense reported.

An air attack occurred in Taganrog, Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar reported today on his Telegram channel. "Air defense forces are currently repelling an air attack on Taganrog. There have been no reports of casualties. Information about the consequences on the ground is being clarified," he wrote at 6:55 a.m. Moscow time.

Mayor Svetlana Kambulova reposted this publication on her Telegram channel. Earlier, at 5:20 a.m. Moscow time, the mayor of Taganrog reported the threat of an attack. "Air hazard in the city. It is recommended to leave open areas of the streets, go indoors, and stay away from windows," the post stated.

Many commenters asked about school and kindergarten hours. "Please write something about schools! Otherwise, 'Step away from the windows, but go to school,'" wrote Ekaterina.

"But she already wrote: 'Don't go outside!' How else do you want that, straight to your private messages?" asked a user with a username consisting of a hieroglyph.

"Will kindergartens be open? Schools are canceling classes," asked Irinka Yudina. "They even wrote 'at the discretion of parents' about our school! I'm shocked," complained Irina.

"Dear administration, why is there no information for schoolchildren?" wrote Anastasia Romanova.

All municipal educational institutions will introduce a free attendance regime.

At 7:14 a.m. Moscow time, Kambulova addressed the parents of schoolchildren and preschoolers separately. "Leaving the premises is prohibited until the all-clear signal for an air strike. After the all-clear signal on January 13, 2026, all municipal educational institutions will be open to the public. Parents independently decide whether their child should participate in the educational process," she wrote.

As a reminder, on December 25, 2025, three people were injured in a drone attack in Taganrog and Bessergenevka. On Instrumentalnaya Street, two apartment buildings and one private home were damaged, as well as parked cars.

Afterwards, Sergei Bondarenko, a resident of the building on Instrumentalnaya Street who lost his car in a drone strike, asked about compensation during a live Q&A with the governor.

The Taganrog resident's appeal resulted in the governor issuing a decree on the compensation procedure for car owners whose property was damaged by drone attacks. The decree provides for a payment of up to 500,000 rubles per damaged vehicle and up to a million rubles per destroyed vehicle.
