A Dagestani soldier was killed in Ukraine.

Yarash Abdulvagabov from Khasavyurt was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have officially recognized at least 1,771 combatants from Dagestan as killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by January 6, officials had officially recognized at least 1,770 fighters from Dagestan as killed in Ukraine. Among the latest killed soldiers whose names were released by authorities was Zagirbek Suleimanov from Derbent.

A ceremony was held at the Khasavyurt mayor's office to present the Order of Courage to the family of Yarash Abdulvagabov, a deceased participant in a special military operation. The state award was posthumously presented by State Duma deputy Saigidpasha Umakhanov, the Khasavyurt city administration reported on its Telegram channel.

Abdulvagabov's age and biographical details were not provided in the administration's statement.

Authorities have acknowledged that at least 8,400 soldiers from southern Russia have been killed in the SVO zone.

Thus, at least 1,771 servicemen from Dagestan have been officially acknowledged as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list is based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "North Caucasus Military Operations Statistics: Casualties Are Growing for Southern Russia."

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that military personnel from Dagestan participating in the North Caucasus Military Operations periodically record video appeals to the republic's authorities asking them to address various social and domestic issues. Specifically, on March 5, participants in a special military operation from the Tsuntinsky District of Dagestan published a video appeal with complaints about inflated prices for school meals and corruption in the purchase of housing for orphans. At the end of September, SVO members complained to Melikov about the lack of sewage in Khasavyurt. In December, SVO members complained to Melikov about the lack of gas in a house in Izberbash.

The appeals of SVO members from Dagestan to the authorities are caused by numerous problems in the republic and remain one of the ways to get the attention of officials. Despite Melikov's statement that combatants are recording the appeals as a result of "manipulation," he will have to respond to them, analysts noted.
