Water supply to homes of Buinaksk residents has been delayed for another day

The authorities have once again postponed the resumption of water supply to Buynaksk, promising that water will be supplied to residents' homes on September 13. Residents of the city fear that the water will again be contaminated with sewage.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, the water supply to Buynaksk was cut off on September 9 due to an accident in the water supply networks. Residents of more than 15 streets and several villages, as well as six kindergartens and three schools, were left without water. Repair work to resume water supply to Buynaksk has been delayed due to heavy rains, the government of Dagestan reported on September 11, promising to resume water supply on September 12. Telegram users reported that in some areas of the city there is water, but of very poor quality.

During the day of September 12, they still did not provide any, city resident Arsen, who lives on Gogoleva Street in Buinaksk, told a correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot". He noted that on September 11 and 12, there were heavy rains in the city, which made it difficult to go out into the city and buy bottled water.

There is still no water on Zulpukarova Street, Murad said. "We are afraid that after heavy rains, sewage will get into the water supply network, as it used to be. Even if they give us water, we will have to let it sit and boil it for several days," the man said.

Buinaksk resident Kistaman noted that the water delivery schedule remains unknown. "We have not sent our children to school and kindergarten for three days now, we are afraid that they will catch some kind of infection due to the lack of water. There are no water trucks in sight, their work schedule is not posted anywhere. "We have to save purchased water only for cooking, there is no way to even wash clothes," she said.

The Buinaksk administration reported this morning that "the remaining volume of repair work is insignificant, and it is planned to complete the restoration of the main line during the day on September 12." The single water supply operator announced at 15:43 Moscow time today that the water supply date to Buinaksk has been shifted by another day.

"Work to eliminate the accident on the main water pipeline has resumed and is currently actively continuing. Earlier, the work was temporarily suspended due to unfavorable weather conditions and heavy rainfall. The completion of emergency restoration work is planned for September 12, and the water supply will be fully restored in the city on September 13,” the operator’s official Telegram channel reported.

"Kavkazsky Uzel" also wrote that at the beginning of June 2024, at least 228 people were hospitalized in Buinaksk after mass poisoning. On June 11, the Rospotrebnadzor office announced that tap water was the source of mass infection of city residents, and six of the sick people were found to have several intestinal infections: dysentery, norovirus, and rotavirus. Mass poisonings in the city are occurring against the background of sewage discharge into worn-out water supply networks and illegal taps into the water supply system, Dagestani specialists indicated.
