Rostov resident accused of spreading "fakes" about the army

A criminal case for disseminating knowingly false information about Russian military personnel has been opened against Rostov-on-Don resident Sergei Iryupin, who has been living in the Czech Republic since 2018. He has been placed on the federal wanted list.

Iryupin's case is being heard by the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don. It was submitted for consideration on August 6

He is accused of committing a crime under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation based on political, ideological or other hatred or enmity), according to the case file on the court's website.

Iryupin and his family have been living in the Czech Republic since 2018. It is unknown what publications were the reason for initiating the criminal case, but the man has repeatedly posted comments on his page on the Odnoklassniki social network condemning the special operation and criticizing the authorities. Currently, his page on the aforementioned social network is partially blocked, the human rights project OVD-Info reported on September 7 (included in the register of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice).

Iryupin said that he learned about the criminal case from a relative whom the investigator contacted. In addition, a person who introduced himself as an employee of the Investigative Committee of Russia wrote to Iryupin on the social network VKontakte and asked him to contact him. After this, the Rostov resident ordered a certificate of criminal record on "Gosuslugi" and found out that he was on the federal wanted list.

Earlier, "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote that a resident of the Rostov region was fined on September 6 for videos in which he insulted participants in a special operation in Ukraine.
