Personal conflict named as motive for attack on DPS post in Achkhoi-Martan

The day before, the teenager who attacked the road-and-patrol (DPS) police post in Achkhoi-Martan had a conflict with the law enforcer on duty there. The young man planned to take revenge on the offender, but by mistake fatally wounded his colleague, sources claim.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 7, a man with a knife attacked the DPS post in Achkhoi-Martan, one of the law enforcers on duty there was stabbed and later died. The teen attacker was shot dead on the spot. The authorities forced teachers and high school pupils to attend the rally held over his body.

On April 10, quite a lot of people came to the funeral of Ramzan Dubaev, the perished policeman, not only residents of Achkhoi-Martan and his colleagues, but also people from nearby dwelling settlements. Aslanbek, a resident of the village of Samashki, explained such a crowd of people by the fact that the fatal knife blow was intended for another person who left his post 10-15 minutes before the attack.

"That policeman was clearly provoking the guy, humiliating him in the presence of other people. He was unrestrained, uttering insults. Such behaviour was attributed to the fact that he had taken part in the special military operation (SMO), where he went after he was fired from law enforcement bodies," the source said, adding that the conflict on April 6 was successfully resolved, but the teenager probably did not forgive the policeman for the insults.

A woman from Achkhoi-Martan named Rumisa called the incident a "fatal mistake" of the murdered young man. "He knew that he was going to his death; he was driven by a strong desire to avenge the humiliation. But instead of V., Ramzan, our fellow villager, who enjoyed respect and great authority among residents of our region, was killed. I feel sorry for both of them," she said.

Teenagers acquire critical thinking and begin noticing injustice towards themselves, Galina Schneider, a psychologist, has pointed out.

"Instead of conversations and educational work with teenagers, the republic's leadership prefers to hold intimidating ‘rallies’ with demonstration of the body of their murdered peer," she said.
