Former policeman suspected of frauds is among awarded Chechen fighters

Ramzan Kadyrov has awarded the title of "Hero of Chechnya" to Bekkhan Yunusov, the commander of the "Aid" detachment, a policeman from the Moscow Region, convicted of abuse of office and suspected of frauds.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 14, 2025, the volunteers who had arrived in Chechnya to sign contracts for sending to the special military operation (SMO) zone complained that they were being kept locked up for weeks in order to be sent to the SMO zone instead of local residents who had bribed off their military service. Human rights defenders have noted that in Chechnya people are forced to sign contracts; and law enforcers set up the so-called "exchange fund" from volunteers who had arrived in the republic, who will sign contracts instead of wealthy local residents.

Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, has reported about awarding a number of military servicemen from Chechnya, including Bekkhan Yunusov, in his Telegram channel.

Yunusov called himself "Reaper" in social media and became known by the nickname "Khimki Batman". He attacked drug dens and beat up visitors thereof. As reported by the “Izvestia”, in 2018, he was accused of abuse of office and sentenced to four years in colony. The former law enforcer was released early on the CER (conditional early relief or parole), but in February 2022, he was accused of fraud. According to the official version, Yunusov offered a businessman for one million roubles to help him in solving his problems; Yunusov was detained while money transfer.

In 2023, prior to trial, Yunusov signed a contract with the “Akhmat” special force detachment and avoided a new sentence, the source has explained.
