Pashinyan rules out agreement with Baku without discussion in Nagorno-Karabakh

An agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be signed only after the public discussion in Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assures. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev threatens to reconsider the attitude towards the territorial integrity of Armenia if Yerevan refuses a peace treaty.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 13, Nikol Pashinyan announced the possibility of “lowering the bar” on the issue of the status of Karabakh, referring to the calls of the international community. The change in the status of Karabakh is unacceptable, MPs say. They have urged Nikol Pashinyan to abandon negotiations with Azerbaijan on the above issue.

Nikol Pashinyan has announced that “there is an iron guarantee that the fate of Artsakh cannot be decided behind the backs of the people,” the RIA “Novosti” reports.

In turn, Ilham Aliev has pointed to the need to start negotiations in the near future to conclude a peace treaty, which he called “the only way out” for Armenia.

On March 31, Ilham Aliev stated that Baku had submitted proposals to Yerevan with five basic principles for normalizing relations between the two countries.

Let us remind you that on April 17, Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the “Hayrenik” Party, and his supporters announced a round-the-clock protest action in Freedom Square in Yerevan.
