Public transport in Stepanakert resumes work

The public transport, as well as electricity and water supplies, have been restored in Stepanakert, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed. Rescuers have reported the distribution of humanitarian aid to townspeople.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Stepanakert residents had complained that local authorities failed to render help to those who had lost their homes during the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has drafted a map to show the territories that will pass over to Azerbaijan after the autumn war. Also, the "Caucasian Knot" has published a deployment map of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Operation of the public transport, as well as the supply of water and electricity, has been resumed in Stepanakert, the Russian MoD has informed. "The city has restored public transport and road traffic; electricity and water supplies. Civilians continue returning to their homes. Engineering and technical units of the Russian peacemaking contingent continue helping local administration in clearing public roads and restoring social infrastructure in the city of Stepanakert," the MoD said on its website today.

According to rescuers, Russian peacemakers are helping local authorities to clear roads and rebuild the infrastructure. The unloading of the humanitarian cargo earlier delivered to Nagorno-Karabakh from Russia was also completed. The delivered goods are mainly construction materials that will help Stepanakert to quickly recover before the onset of cold weather, the TASS has noted today with reference to the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).
