Mayor of Grozny heads Kadyrov's administration

On February 10, Ramzan Kadyrov appointed his nephew, Mayor of Grozny, Ibragim Zakriev, as the head of the administration of the head and government of Chechnya. Local residents treat Zakriev's new appointment to be a continuation of the cadre policy of the head of the region.

Over the years, Ibragim Zakriev took the posts of an assistant to the head of Chechnya, the head of the office of the head and government of the republic, and the first vice-premier of Chechnya. On July 26, 2018, he was approved by the members of the Grozny City Duma as the city Mayor.

According to Kadyrov, Zakriev will establish closer and more constructive interaction with the ministries, agencies and bodies of local self-governments. "Changes in Grozny under Zakriev's leadership are visible to the naked eye ... Grozny has become even more beautiful and modern," Ramzan Kadyrov is quoted by his press service on the website of the head of the republic.

Local residents have noted that the appointment of Kadyrov's to the post of the administration head of the head and government is not something special. "This is just a continuation of the 'general line' of the republic's head of appointing his relatives to major posts," said Imran.

"Under Mayor Zakriev, Grozny suffered no global changes; rather, the plans outlined under the previous leaders were continued," Khamzat, an activist, has noted.

The experts earlier interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" stated that people from the "inner circle" of Ramzan Kadyrov could occupy major post in Chechnya. Dmitry Oreshkin, a political analyst, pointed to the "typical family-clannish regime of power formation" in Chechnya.
