Medical commission creates obstacles to Zarema Musaeva’ release

Medical officers have diagnosed Zarema Musaeva with a milder form of the disease, which excludes the possibility of release from the colony settlement for health reasons, an advocate reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the health state of Zarema Musaeva is worsening, and her dose of insulin and painkillers has been increased, the advocate reports. According to him, Zarema Musaeva is not receiving adequate medical treatment.

On March 28, the advocate reported that Zarema Musaeva’s sense of vision had deteriorated sharply and she was experiencing severe pain. The deterioration of her condition became another basis for conditional early relief (CER), but Zarema Musaeva is actually being held hostage by the Chechen authorities, human rights defenders point out.

Advocate Alexander Savin has received the conclusion of the medical commission, according to which Zarema Musaeva is not diagnosed by any diseases that would allow her to be released for health reasons.

“Her disease wrote in the diagnosis does not fall under the list that allows convicts to be released for health reasons,” the human rights organization “Team Against Torture” (TaT)* quotes the advocate in its Telegram channel as saying.

The advocate also said that on April 11, an ambulance was called for Zarema Musaeva because of severe pain in her leg. According to the defender, the woman receives painkillers, but the pain only increases.

Let us remind you that on December 12, 2023, the Shali City Court denied conditional early relief (CER) for Zarema Musaeva.

*The “Team against Torture” (TaT, formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
