Police succeed in seeking punishment for Krasnodar resident for posting rainbow flag

In Krasnodar, a court reconsidered the case instituted against Viktor Morozov for his post on a social network with a photograph of a rainbow flag. Initially, the court did not find any offense in the post, but later agreed with the position voiced by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The police instituted an administrative case against Viktor Morozov for his post on the “VKontakte” social network.

At the first court hearing of the case, the Leninsky Court of Krasnodar did not find any offense in the Viktor Morozov’s post.

The police insisted that Viktor Morozov was to delete his earlier post after the authorities of Russia recognized LGBT* as an extremist movement. The offense was that the man failed to delete his earlier post.

In April, the Leninsky District Court reconsidered Viktor Morozov’s case and this time found him guilty. The article on displaying extremist symbols, under which Viktor Morozov was found guilty, provides for a fine or an arrest for up to 15 days.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, a court obliged local resident Daria Rashevskaya to pay a fine of 900,000 roubles under the administrative article on LGBT* propaganda. The court recognized screenshots of film frames and videos posted on Daria Rashevskaya’s page on a social network as LGBT* propaganda.

*On November 30, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation declared the movement an “extremist organization” and banned the “international public movement of LGBT people”. With this decision, the court satisfied the claim of the Russian Ministry of Justice, sent to the court on November 17, 2023.
