Lieutenant Colonel and Major Sergeant killed in attack on law enforcers in Mara-Ayagy

As a result of an attack on the road-and-patrol (DPS) post located in the village of Mara-Ayagy in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), the Police Lieutenant Colonel Anton Valikov and Major Sergeant Andrei Artamonov were killed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.

Three police officers and one OMON (riot police) agent from the KChR's Branch of the "Rosgvardiya" (Russian National Guard) were wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last night there was an attack on law enforcers in the village of Mara-Ayagy, Karachay District, during which five suspected militants were killed. Two law enforcers were killed and four others were wounded. The slain suspected militants have been identified as the April 22 attackers on policemen in Karachaevsk.

Let us remind you that at night on April 22, in Karachaevsk (the KChR capital and the centre of the above district), an attack was committed on policemen. Lieutenant Murat Kalakhanov and Sergeant Roman Guschin were killed, another law enforcer was wounded. Five suspects were put on the wanted list: Akhmat and Ruslan Elkanov, Kazbek Djazaev, Ruslan Semyonov and Vladimir Averianov.
