Stavropol activist detained after her picket in Moscow

In Moscow, policemen have detained Valentina Velichkina, an activist from the city of Mineralnye Vody who was holding a solo picket in defence of the nature reserve named "Beshtau Mountain".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2022, in Moscow, Valentina Velichkina, a pensioner, held a picket against the plans for the development of Mount Mashuk. After that, law enforcers came to Velichkina, who is regularly taking part in environmentalists' protest actions.

Velichkina went to Manezhnaya Square in Moscow with a poster against the destruction of the "Mount Beshtau" natural reserve. The police detained the woman and took her to the police station, but later released her, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.

After they evaluated the content of her poster, policemen decided not to draw up a protocol against Velichkina, the SOTA outlet has noted.
